Finishers for muscovy duckling : effect of crude protein content on growth performance and carcass quality

Abstract

Effects of dietary protein have been studied during the finishing period (56 to 84 days of age) in male muscovy ducklings. Satisfactory growth performances were observed with dietary protein concentration about 145 g/kg feed. Protein content up to 170 g/kg tended to enhance lightly growth rate with an efficiency of 0.55 g weight gain (56-84 days) per g protein ingested. Dietary protein exhibited no effect on fattening and on yields of edible parts (breast, tights).
