Condensed sugar beet molasses solubles for ruminants

Abstract

Condensed sugar beet molasses solubles are by-products of the molasses fermentation industry. Their chemical composition (ash, crude protein) and the digestibility of the nutrients (on the basis of dry matter, organic matter, energy, crude protein) by ruminants varies greatly according to manufacture and origin. Their mean energetic values are 0.82 UFL and 0.75 UFV/kg DM. The crude protein contents, essentially as non-protein compounds (betaine, glutamic acid, ammonia), are high. These solubles are a good nitrogen source for cattle and sheep. The use of these products in rations with a PDIN deficit is made easier when potassium and sulfur are eliminated.
