Tribute to Daniel Sauvant, teacher and researcher in animal nutrition

Abstract
Daniel Sauvant (1945 - 2022) was a brilliant researcher and teacher, and was a major player in animal nutrition and feeding research conducted in France for half a century. Passionate about transmission of knowledge, he was also a major contributor to the journal INRAE Productions Animales. This article pays tribute to him and illustrates, through an analysis of the articles he published in the journal, his contribution to the development of new knowledge in animal nutrition and feeding and to their transfer to different fields of application (research, teaching, animal industries…).
