Aims & Scope

Purpose of the journal

The journal INRAE Productions Animales publishes in Open Access and free of charges, articles of synthesis allowing the update of the knowledge for all the species of interest (herbivores, monogastric and fish) in animal production and the fields of the nutrition and the food, the physiology, the pathology, the genetics, breeding techniques and systems, product quality, food safety, production economics ... with the aim of raising awareness of the work carried out by INRAE or in collaboration with other organizations. By invitation or after prior written approval, the journal may publish articles from other French or foreign research organizations.

INRAE Productions Animales is aimed at a wide audience: agricultural research and development, livestock, food and animal health professionals, teachers and students, etc.
The journal is indexed in the international databases of the Web of Science and CAB. It is classified in categories "Agriculture, Dairy & Animal Science" and "Veterinary Sciences" from the Journal Citation Reports.

Types of articles
The articles published in INRAE Productions Animales are so-called "review" articles. They can be literature reviews on a given topic ("state of the art" of a question with regard to works published elsewhere). They can also be articles synthesizing results obtained from experiments, surveys or modeling work on a given issue, which must essentially be published elsewhere, or results obtained by using databases that must be referenced. In all cases, the results presented must be positioned in the existing literature.
These review articles may have been published in English (or another language), in international periodicals, in books, or at congresses, symposia or colloquia. In this case, the French version submitted must be adapted to the public of the journal INRAE Productions Animales and must not be a simple translation of the original text.
The reference to the original text must appear in a footnote indicated at the end of the "Incentive Hat", and the complete reference of this publication must appear in the bibliographic list.

Upon request, or at the initiative of the editorial staff, the journal publishes thematic files (20 to 40 pages) on current topics. These files consist of several short review articles, preceded by an explanatory foreword. They are published in the current numbers without representing the entire number.

The editorial staff also regularly publish thematic special issues (80 pages or more ) consisting of a set of summary articles, when the need to focus on a broad topic seems necessary.
