Special issue: Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies in Animals - Presentation
Abstract
This report is devoted to studies on prion diseases in farm animals, carried out within the institute in collaboration with different national and international organisations. The different facets of the research on prions and the diseases that they cause are treated, including the models of both Scrapie and Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE): the biology of the pathogenic agent and the notion of the prion strain, the pathogenicity of the disease and genetic resistance, ways of transmission and evolution in animal populations, fight against TSE.
